One days after newly elected TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan were hugely trolled on social media for wearing western dress when they came to parliament. But today she (Mimi) replied for the trolling on twitter that she wondered if her critics weren’t being a little sexist by not targeting cricketer turned BJP MP Gautam Gambhir who wore casual wear.

Actually she observed the issue after journalist Swati Chaturvedi raised the issue on Twitter, questioning,”Has the fashion police attacked Gambhir yet? Or only for the women? I think @GautamGambhir is looking great.”

She was mentioning a photo-tweet by Gambhir that displayed him posing in front of the parliament complex in a jeans a t-shirt, holding up his identity card. The former cricketer won the Lok Sabha from East Delhi in the recent Lok Sabha election.

And Mimi retweeted to Swati,” No they didn’t ma’am its only bcoz we r women probably but @GautamGambhir looks great.”

Two renown bengali actresses Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan, both won in the lower house from West Bengal’s Jadavpur and Basirhat constituencies. When they visited parliament for the first time on Monday, they posed in front of the imposing structure and posted the images on Twitter. Mimi tweeted and tagged her fellow parliamentarian,” And it’s us again. First day at Parliament (with) Nusrat Jahan.”

A number of people thinks their ( Mimi and Nusrat) dress is not appropriate for the occasion. One of them comments that the “Parliament is not a photo studio”, another one thinks that Mimi Chakraborty is ” not suitable for the position”. And another one suggests that MP’s are required to come to Parliament in traditional wear.

But there are many who supports them also. Yashwant Deshmukh, the founder of polling agency CVoter was one of them.”Even I just can’t unsee this. Absolutely classy, adorable, fresh, young, dynamic next-gen leadership that India has got. She represents her generation . And she must wear this identity proudly on her sleeves”, he tweeted.

Though they are new to politics, the lawmakers had succeeded in the difficult situation by an impressive victory in their seats. Here Mimi Chakraborty(30) got victory from Jadavpur by over almost 3 Lakh votes. On the other hand, Nusrat Jahan(29) defeated her opponent in Basirhat by over 3.5 Lakh votes. In 2014, TMC got victory in both the seats by a margin of less than 1,30,000 votes in LS elections.
